Gone Unnoticed

Gone Unnoticed
When unexpected events happen that changes our plans we surrender it all to Jesus. Photo: Ib Dabo.

One Monday, I was tired and exhausted from the weekend. Clearing ice from the driveway was not part of my Monday morning plan. This little driveway, full of ice, was enough to make me feel depleted. My back was hurting, finger swollen, and spirit downcast. In a deep sigh, I said, “Jesus help me. I am tired.”

This sigh was deep enough to be my prayer for the day. I was weary and really needed Jesus to change my day. I willingly surrendered and put the shovel back.

After trying out many activities to uplift my spirit, I finally decided to listen to gospel music. My day slowly began to change.

Before I knew it, I was feeling the best of me. I was refreshed and renewed, feeling alive.

In that moment, the Lord taught about weariness.

Have you ever had weary days or experienced unexplainable fatigue?

In Luke 8 there is a story of a woman with bleeding issues. This woman was desperately in need of healing.

Sometimes we get tired not because we worked hard, but spiritually, power went out of us. After all, we do carry Christ in us, and whenever there is a need in the crowd, the Lord responds through us—knowingly and unknowingly.

With everything she had, she tried all the physicians in town, yet she was not healed. Consumed by the physical pain and the emotional stress of the day, she was willing to force her way through the crowd to touch Jesus for her healing.

Afraid to be noticed, she gently touched Jesus and was ready to escape. But Jesus called her out.

He asked, “Who touched me?” (Luke 8: 45). She did not respond. She wanted to go unnoticed. After everyone denied touching Him, Jesus insisted, saying, “Someone touched me; for I noticed that power had gone out from me” (vs. 46).

Jesus did not just recognize her and her needs but that His power had gone out from Him. In other words, He was exhausted.

Sometimes we get tired not because we worked hard, but spiritually, power went out of us. After all, we do carry Christ in us, and whenever there is a need in the crowd, the Lord responds through us—knowingly and unknowingly.

Unfortunately, for us, we are not spiritually sensitive like Christ to call out the “silent” miracles. People go unnoticed after they have received their miracles.

When we are weary and tired, we go on our knees and ask the Lord to refill us again. Jesus made sure the woman knew the power of the Lord healed her so she may worship Him.

We too, when someone blesses us with their gift or time, let us acknowledge God who provided through that individual so that the Lord may be glorified and replenish that person.

Scriptures encourage us to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways (Proverbs 3:6), even in simple miracles.

Questions: What miracle have you experienced lately? How do we grow spiritually sensitive?

  1. Thank you for this Joy, submitting to the Lord with All my plans has been something new. (Learned from you Joy) My first reaction/ option was to reach out to a friend to cry, complain or worry about issues that I may go through but I have learned about the peace that comes with going to Lord with everything on my heart even the most mundane, day to day tasks as you have described in this post. God does make our paths straight in His ways and His time! thank you.
